About Halong Fantasea Cruise

Minimalism meets age styling on the Halong Fantasea Cruise. This wooden junk boat attracts a broad spectrum of casual vacationers who seek a super-fun escape at a reasonable price. Airy open spaces on deck enable you to effortlessly get acquainted while the cruise glides smoothly through Halong Bay. In addition, comfortable beds, efficient services, and decent amenities add to the appeal.

Pros

+ Fantasea Cruise offers what budget travelers need on vacation with a classic style and great social areas.
+ Meals are overall good with different variations and drinks are served during meal times.
+ Excursions are filled with educational and interactive activities.

Cons

- Cabins are neat but a bit old with dim light.
- There is a lack of superior facilities.

Bottom Line

This 3-star boat fits easy-going guests with a basic demand for basic accommodations and facilities.

Itinerary & activities

Loads of touring options are dedicated to mature travelers. Fantasea Cruise’s itineraries propose access to popular ports of call of Halong Bay such as Sung Sot Cave, Luon Cave, and Titop Island. Moreover, the boat holds a special appeal for beach bums with a bus and boat trip to Monkey Island for swimming and enjoying the nightlife on Cat Ba Island.

Cruise quality

Unlike larger ships, Fantasea Cruise offers quieter pleasures in a traditional setting. While not providing high standards, the cruise is refitted with several new updates, modern facilities, and wooden furniture. Guests can choose among its 3 boats of 7 cabins and 9 cabins.

Cabin quality

The cabin interior is kept simple while large-sized windows frame breathtaking views of Halong Bay, meaning that early risers can curl up and enjoy magnificent sunrise from the warmth of their bed. There is a separate bathroom with essential furniture and bottles of mineral water are placed inside the room. However, you should not expect other luxurious amenities or services onboard.

Service & facilities

A handful of necessary facilities are located on the upper deck while the lower deck houses staterooms. Although Fantasea Cruise emphasises active outings, you can still meet and chill together in the cozy dining room & lounge with glass windows around or on the open terrace. Alternatively, head to the bar and sip a nice drink to round off your day.

Food & Drink

Fresh seafood and seasonal Vietnamese specialties are always provided as you’re in the middle of the sea. Breakfast is in Western style and complete with a cup of tea or coffee. Guests can also order other beverages in the well-stocked bar at an additional charge.

Highly recommended

The ship itself was well maintained and had a lovely traditional look. My rooms were tidy, convenient, and well equipped. However, I chose a room located near the engine, which was quite noisy at night when sleeping. The food was tasty and diverse, and everyone was really cheerful and warm-hearted.

It was a great cruise overall. It was not very luxurious but cozy and traditional instead. Meals were a fusion of Vietnamese and Western cuisines, very diverse and tasty! There were many activities off deck such as kayaking, climbing, swimming,... but on board, there were just a few - cooking, tai chi,... There was no spa service either. So I suggest choosing a one-night cruise would be ideal for a great trip! Halong Bay and Lan Ha Bay were undoubtedly stunning!

Satisfied

We are 2 friends going on a one-night tour with Halong Fantasea Cruise. It was a fantastic experience! The itinerary was really nice but the stop at Titov Island was really crowded with tourists. The panoramic views were undoubtedly spectacular! Staff were really attentive and gentle. All in all, this cruise was really good value for money!

Nice tour and great experiences! There were only 14 passengers so it was really comfortable and private too. The day passed really fast with a lot of activities and in the evening, we could slow down and relax. However, there were not many things to do on board on the 2nd evening as the activities were repeated. Also, my advice was not to travel in July as there was a lot of rain and it was too foggy to see the bays clearly.

The ship was not really new but well maintained and offered everything we needed. The beds were comfortable, the rooms were clean and convenient. The cruise had a great tour guide who spoke excellent English and was very informative and funny. We had so much fun kayaking, fishing squid at night, hiking, and swimming… The itineraries had many energetic activities, so we highly recommend this cruise for the youth!

We spent 3 days with Halong Fantasea Cruise and were all really happy! Pros: great staff and services; neat and well-equipped rooms; magnificent bays; kayaking was fun; delicious food, relaxing sundeck areas... Cons: the itinerary was quite rushed; plastic in the seas. My advice was to travel light as there were adequate amenities you needed on board.

The boat itself was small but cozy and convenient, and ran smoothly too. The services and schedules were well planned and of great standards. The transfer was comfortable and much faster compared to the last time I went. Only one thing was that we had expected a lot about the food, but it was a little bland and drinks were charged an extra cost.
